Terms of Service
Your agreement with TravintSecurity.
Last updated: 2026-04-22 — DRAFT pending legal review
1. What TravintSecurity is
TravintSecurity ("the Service", "we", "us") is a travel security intelligence platform. It provides country-level and regional threat assessments across nine risk categories (armed conflict, regional instability, terrorism, civil strife, legal risk, crime, health, infrastructure, and natural hazards), plus identity-aware safety lenses (e.g. Jewish/Israeli travellers, solo women).
The Service is intended to help travellers understand country risk context. It is NOT an operational replacement for government travel advisories, professional security consultations, or real-time situational awareness during active travel.
2. Important disclaimer — please read carefully
The Service uses automated data pipelines, language models, and deterministic scoring rules to synthesize threat assessments from a wide range of public sources. Automated systems make mistakes.
Despite our safety measures — multiple independent checks, structured annual data anchors (UNODC, WHO, UCDP, ThinkHazard, INFORM, and similar authorities), source-credibility filtering, and human review of flagged edge cases — errors, mis-classifications, and stale information can and do occur.
You must not rely on TravintSecurity as the sole basis for any operational decision relating to travel, personal safety, asset protection, duty of care, or corporate policy. Always cross-check material claims against at least one independent authoritative source — your government's travel advisory (e.g. UK FCDO, US State Department, Germany AA, France MEAE, Canada GAC, Australia DFAT), the World Health Organization, the UN OCHA situation reports, or first-party news from reputable wire services.
If the Service states something that contradicts reputable primary sources, trust the primary sources, not us. Report the discrepancy to us via the in-product flag mechanism so we can correct it.
3. No professional duty of care
TravintSecurity is an information product, not a professional security service. Using the Service does not create a duty of care, attorney- client privilege, security-professional relationship, insurance underwriter assessment, or any equivalent fiduciary obligation between us and you. For operational risk assessments with legal or duty-of-care weight, engage a licensed security consultancy.
4. Eligibility and account responsibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- You must keep your credentials confidential. Notify us immediately at security@travintsecurity.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You must provide accurate information during sign-up and keep it current.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to plan or facilitate violent, illegal, or sanctioned activities.
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or bulk-export our data beyond the scope of your paid tier's API limits.
- Share account credentials with third parties.
- Misrepresent Service output as the product of a licensed security consultancy.
- Remove or obscure the accuracy disclaimers when redistributing output within your organisation.
6. Subscription, billing, cancellation
Paid tiers are billed monthly or annually. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds for unused time unless required by applicable consumer law.
We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. If you don't accept the new pricing, you may cancel before it takes effect.
7. Intellectual property
We own the Service's software, branding, scoring framework, methodology, and narrative text. You receive a personal, non- exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your own informational purposes for the duration of your paid subscription.
You may share individual country threat assessments internally within your organisation if you retain the TravintSecurity attribution and the accuracy disclaimer. You may not resell the Service or redistribute its output commercially without a separate written licence.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TravintSecurity and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages resulting from reliance on any threat assessment, narrative, score, event listing, or recommendation provided by the Service.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, etc.) and even if we were aware of the possibility of such damages.
9. Warranty disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We specifically disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and non-infringement.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TravintSecurity against any claim, loss, or damage — including reasonable legal fees — arising from: (a) your misuse of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; or (c) decisions you made in reliance on the Service without cross-checking against primary sources, where such cross-checking would have revealed the error.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access without refund if you breach these Terms, attempt unauthorised access, or use the Service in a way that damages us or other users.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which TravintSecurity is incorporated (to be specified in the final version after legal review). Disputes must first be attempted to be resolved through direct communication; thereafter by binding arbitration under the rules of a mutually-agreed arbitration body.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes are announced via a prominent in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
